Grayshott Concerts are proud to have hosted many well known and world famous musicians, choirs, performers and composers. On this page we feature those performers who have taken part in our concerts since our first concert in 2004.
The London Mozart Players, the UK's longest established chamber orchestra, celebrated its 70th birthday in February 2019. Founded in 1949 by Harry Blech the orchestra is known for its unmistakable British roots.
Over the last seventy years, the LMP has developed a reputation for adventurous, ambitious programming from Baroque through to genre-crossing contemporary music, and continues to build on its long history of association with many of the world’s finest artists. The orchestra enjoys an international reputation, touring extensively throughout Europe and the Far East and records frequently for Naxos, Convivium, Chandos and Hyperion Records.

Sheku Kanneh-Mason, internationally acclaimed cellist, gained fame after winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2016. Known for his rich, emotive performances, Sheku has performed with some of the world’s leading orchestras and soloists. His 2020 album Elgar debuted at No. 1 on the UK Official Classical Album Chart. Sheku has also performed at notable events, including the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.

Isata Kanneh-Mason, a rising star in the classical music world, is an accomplished pianist with a passion for both solo and ensemble work. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Isata has performed with major orchestras worldwide. Her debut album Romance topped the UK Classical Charts and was lauded for its emotional depth and technical brilliance.

Coco Tomita, the winner of the Strings Final in BBC Young Musician (2020), is celebrated for her expressive and powerful performances. She has performed with orchestras such as the English Chamber Orchestra, and at renowned venues including the Southbank Centre, Wigmore Hall, and the Bridgewater Hall. Known for her versatility, Coco excels in both classical violin concertos and contemporary works. Her debut album Origins was met with critical acclaim, highlighting her technical brilliance and musical maturity.

Pegasus Choir is a highly respected chamber choir based in London, known for its mastery of both early music and contemporary choral repertoire. Founded in 1995, the choir has performed at prestigious venues including St John’s Smith Square and the Temple Church, and at major festivals such as the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music. Pegasus regularly collaborates with leading orchestras like the London Handel Orchestra and works with distinguished conductors such as Laurence Cummings and Adrian Butterfield.

London Festival Opera brings the grandeur and excitement of opera to both traditional and unconventional venues, including Buckingham Palace and La Fenice in Venice. Composed of internationally renowned singers who regularly perform at major opera houses like Covent Garden and La Scala, their performances combine theatrical flair with musical excellence. Their repertoire includes classic operas by Verdi, Mozart, and Rossini, and they are celebrated for their dynamic productions that appeal to both seasoned opera lovers and new audiences alike.

Matilda Lloyd is one of the most exciting trumpet players of her generation. She has performed as a soloist with top orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Matilda’s festival appearances include the BBC Proms and the Lucerne Festival. Her debut album, Casta Diva, features a collection of operatic arias transcribed for trumpet and was praised for its dazzling virtuosity and lyricism. She is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and has won numerous awards, including the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Young Brass Award.

Roderick Williams, one of Britain’s most beloved baritones, has enjoyed a distinguished career in opera, concert, and recital. He is particularly admired for his interpretations of the English song repertoire and has performed with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Roderick is also a composer, with works regularly performed in the UK and beyond. He has appeared at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, and the Wigmore Hall. In 2017, he was awarded an OBE for services to music.

Imogen Cooper is one of the most revered pianists of her generation, known for her interpretations of Schubert, Beethoven, and French composers like Debussy and Ravel. She has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Imogen is also a frequent guest at international festivals such as the Salzburg Festival and the Lucerne Festival. Her recordings for Chandos Records have garnered critical acclaim, and her poetic touch and expressive depth have made her a favorite with audiences around the world. She was awarded a CBE in 2007 for services to music.

Anna Prohaska, the celebrated soprano, is known for her versatile voice and dramatic flair. She has performed at the Salzburg Festival, La Scala, and the Royal Opera House, collaborating with world-class conductors such as Daniel Barenboim and Sir Simon Rattle. Equally comfortable in early music and contemporary opera, Anna’s performances are noted for their emotional intensity and technical mastery. She regularly performs with the Berlin Philharmonic and is a sought-after artist in Baroque opera and lieder.

Martin James Bartlett, winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 2014, has quickly established himself as one of the leading pianists of his generation. He has performed with major orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony. Martin has appeared at the BBC Proms, the Verbier Festival, and Carnegie Hall. Known for his expressive performances, he is a passionate advocate for classical music and regularly collaborates with leading artists across the globe.

Sir Karl Jenkins CBE is one of the most performed living composers in the world. Educated at Gowerton Grammar School, Cardiff University and the Royal Academy of Music, London, The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace alone has been performed over 2,700 times in 37 different countries since the CD was released while his recorded output has resulted in seventeen gold and platinum disc awards.
He was awarded a Knighthood in the 2015 Queen's Birthday Honours for 'services to composing and crossing musical genres'.

As pianist, conductor and recording artist, Howard Shelley has a distinguished career performing worldwide at major venues and with renowned orchestras. Most of his current work is in the combined role of conductor and soloist and is reflected in a discography that now exceeds 170 albums and the works of over seventy composers.
In 1994 an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Music was conferred on him and in 2009 he was awarded an OBE for services to classical music.

Nicola Benedetti is one of the most sought-after violinists of her generation. With concerto performances at the heart of her career, Nicola is in much demand with major orchestras and conductors across the globe.
Nicola was awarded the Queen's Medal for Music in 2017, the youngest ever recipient, and was appointed as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours. She was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2019 New Year Honours, "For services to Music".

Polyphony was formed by Stephen Layton in 1986 for a concert in King's College Chapel, Cambridge. Since then the choir has performed and recorded regularly to great acclaim and is universally acknowledged as one of the finest choirs in the world. Stephen Layton is one of the most sought-after conductors of his generation and has had a profound influence on choral music over the last 30 years.
Polyphony's extensive discography on the Hyperion label encompasses works by Britten, Bruckner, Cornelius, Grainger, Grieg, Jackson, Lauridsen, Lukaszewski, MacMillan, Pärt, Poulenc, Rutter, Tavener, Walton, and Whitacre. In the USA Polyphony's recordings have twice been nominated for Grammy Awards.

With a discography of over 70 discs Raphael Wallfisch is one of the most recorded classical artists in the world. A BBC survey named Wallfisch’s recording of the Dvorak Cello Concerto the best recording of the work in the past 25 years.
Raphael Wallfisch has been at the forefront of playing and commissioning new works by contemporary composers, working with Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Kenneth Leighton, James MacMillan, Rodion Schedrin, John Tavener and many others.

Tasmin Little is one of today's leading international violinists. She has performed on every continent in some of the most prestigious venues of the world. Her multi-award winning and varied career encompasses international concerto and recital performances, master classes, workshops and community outreach work. Tasmin's discography and performance schedule reflect her wide-ranging repertoire and she has given numerous World Premiere performances.
In 2012, Tasmin Little was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Birthday Honours List, for Services to Music.

With a distinguished career as a soloist Michael has in recent years also become highly regarded as a conductor. Guest conducting and play-directing include engagements with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. From 2010 - 2018 he was Principal Conductor of the City of London Sinfonia. Michael is also Clarinet Professor at the Royal College of Music London.
Michael records for Chandos, and in his recordings has covered a wide range of solo repertoire, which includes releases on Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, EMI and Sony.
In 2015 Michael was awarded an MBE for his services to music. He plays on Yamaha clarinets.

The Sixteen arose from its Founder and Conductor Harry Christophers’ formative experience as cathedral chorister and choral scholar.
His enterprise, launched in 1979, built on the best of the British choral tradition while setting new standards of virtuosity and musicianship. The Sixteen’s professional female and male voices create a distinctive sound of great warmth and clarity. Although refined over four decades, that sound has remained remarkably consistent, always responsive to the emotional content of words and music, ever alert to subtle nuances of colour and shading.

Anne Denholm is one of Britain's leading young harpists and served as Official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales from 2015-2019.
Anne freelances with orchestras and choirs across England, most recently working with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Northern Ballet Sinfonia and Sir John Eliot Gardiner's Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique. She has recorded for CDs with The Choir of St John’s College Cambridge, The Temple Church Choir and The Carice Singers. Anne is also Principal Harpist with Ensemble Cymru, a group championing chamber music throughout Wales.

Alison Balsom has performed with some of the greatest conductors and orchestras of our time and has appeared as soloist at the Last Night of the BBC Proms.
Alison is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards and from 2018-19 was Artistic Director of Cheltenham Music Festival. Building upon her recording catalogue for EMI Classics and later Warner Classics of over 12 solo albums, Alison released her latest recording entitled Royal Fireworks on Warner Classics label in November 2019.
Alison was awarded an OBE in the 2016 Birthday Honours for services to music.

Over four decades of performance and a catalogue of award-winning recordings for Gimell, Peter Phillips and The Tallis Scholars have done more than any other group to establish sacred vocal music of the Renaissance as one of the great repertoires of Western classical music.
They have sought to bring Renaissance works to a wider audience in churches, cathedrals and venues on every continent. The Tallis Scholars continue to develop their exclusive sound, praised by reviewers for its supple clarity and tone, and to bring fresh interpretations to music by contemporary as well as past composers.
